Hey-ho guys and... more guys! Ever wanted to read about a chick named Bella and a sparkly vampire named Edward without feeling like you were committing unspeakable acts of depravity to the English literary tradition? Luminosity is a re-imagining of the Twilight series wherein Bella, rather than being a whiny narcissist bitch, is a meticulous rationalist. Featuring the same characters and starting off on roughly the same foot, this simple personality change takes the story in a whole new, better direction. Gone is the angsty teenage moping and vapid stalker-obsession. In its place is a high-stakes game of intrigue and subterfuge, where risks actually exist, and consequences will never be the same. Not only does Alicorn condense the original series into a single story, but Bella's climactic gamble leaves enough room for an original, and much-deserved, sequel. There's good fanfic, and then there's fic better than the source material. Admittedly, Twilight sets its bar pretty low, but Luminosity is nevertheless a worthy investment for anyone who respects literature. If, for some reason, you want to familiarize yourself with the original works, but don't want to burn money or forever scar your library card, this blog provides both an entertaining summary, and the timeline of one poor soul's descent into madness.

Well, I really liked the first book when I read it, back in 2007. Wow, it's already been 5 years since... Although I must say that it was never the same. New Moon was pure junk, and the other two were more or less acceptable.
