For the discussion of what terms, words, etc. in English make you desire to eat a small child. "Heh." Due to a certain person's overuse of it as a response, when it stands alone, I feel like the Cuban Missile Crisis gone horribly wrong. MOAR DAKKA. "Whatever." Most annoying term ever. I'm not alone in thinking so, either."To be fair." Yet again this is because of the same person. As a persistent Devil's Advocate, it has become an annoying phrase to me that means the equivalent of "You're right but I feel like being an ass and arguing anyway for lulz." Yours? Share 'em!

I believe you mean "slenderly-tailored".

Let me think... English grammar is notorious for its stupidity, but let me try and piece things together.
A verb can refer to either an action or a state of being.
Quickly, rapidly, etc. We can determine -ly is a state of being ending. At least, from what I can think of in terms of examples.
So beautifully, slenderly, etc. would just imply that the objects were made that way with regards to the verb. Beautifully orchestrated, slenderly crafted, etc.
I probably have no idea what I'm talking about but this is what happens when you try and use logic at 6 in the morning.

My point stands. Quick: schnell, fast; quickly: moving in a fast manner. This makes sense.
So what the bloody hell does it mean for someone to walk slenderly?

Wasn't the magic of Fitzgerald that he could make the most trivial detail seem important? Or specifically in Gatsby, that stuff only meant as much as the reader thought it did?

I'll admit, I'm surprised you read it thoroughly enough to divine its underlying meaning.
