The events which have recently transpired should surprise no one.

My Leader, I have prepared a map with our claims for this turn. The light grey denotes provinces purchased with RPoints; I assume we are still saving around 50 for Belgium?

Ja, I don't know why that didn't go through; probably part of Tanicius' continual mission to spark fights amongst the players. Anyway, the map looks fine.
Can somebody refresh me on any pertinent diplomacy last turn? After the thread got locked I stopped paying attention.

I only skimmed through what took place after the counter-proposal to the Justice League, but this is what I came up with:
- Zulus accepted trade - Australia offers trade - Raiju propose some sort of alliance - Zulus propose defensive pact - France offers limited, strategic trade (details above)
That's everything that directly affects us, at least. I didn't want to try deciphering the political situation since it gets messy. Herr Hewel can probably explain it better.

Presented on Radio Red:The Histories of the French Commune: from the forming of the communes of France to the birth of the Socialist Union of Democratic States Directed and Narrated by Professor Henry Romilly Research conducted by: Professor Henry Romilly, Professor Alice Roy, Professor Abel Tasse, Doctor Mario Di Stefano and Doctor Jain Lane. Commissioned by the S.U.D.S’s Department of Education Chapter One: Birth and Development After the great occurrences that triggered the Great Dark Age, France was separated into different powers, each competing or desiring to be isolated. Attempts to unify France were met with failure. All looked like the once mighty country was divided. Then in the Orleans Commune... Alexia De Sauveterre got elected its President. At the same time Hector Fay got elected as President of the Norman Federation and Karl Allard got chosen as Chairman of the Collective Union of Pays de la Loire. Seeking economic protection, seeking possible military defence and having a urge to commence great things the three powers created a alliance: the Pact of the Holy Maid. After 5 years under this pact, after the re-elections of both De Sauveterre and Fay, with Allard being replaced by William Garcon, they decided to place a referendum to all their people: should they unite. The overwhelming answer was “yes.” By democratic means the 3 regions joined together. At first it was known as the “The Neo Franco Republic” but a surge of socialist support had came when both the Paris Commune and the Peoples’ Dominion of Tours become parts of this Republic in a week later. The election came for the title of the first leader of this rebirth of France: the winner was a socialist figure Helen Simon of the Communist Party. Choosing the title “Premier,” she declared the areas as the French Commune. Her rein was sadly short: just a month after her rise to power she faced assassination from the Peoples’ Chosen Legion. Simon’s successor was Igor Martin. Martin focused on stabilising the situation and fought against the PCL. He would win after a 3 year struggle. Feeling the conflict had proven politics to be of Hell, he decided to make a early retirement in order to allow someone that was not stressed from dealing with terrorists into the post, feeling a fresh feel would aid the French Commune. The figure that rose to ranks of leader was Alex Marie, who decided to focus on “Isolated Growth” to “prepare for the revolution.” His reign lasted only that one year: he lost his election to the Social Liberation Party, leading to the Communist Party to fire him from the position of leadership, handing the title of party leader to Maria Borde and seeing a Abel Roux take oath in becoming Premier that he would see to the reunion of France. Abel first choice was to choose the predecessor to Alexia De Sauverre of the Orleans Commune and then key advisor to Simon to become the Chairman of the Unity Committee. The figure was Robert Samson, who had in his youth been part of several socialist protests groups. The Next Chapter of the History of the French Commune: Union in face of Opposition. We will look as France began to reform, the early day diplomacies with nations around the world and how the French Commune reacted to the rising power of King Otto of Spain.

It's pretty obvious the French proposal is a cheap stab at disseminating their propaganda within our borders. They've already made it clear they see us as ideological enemies; if all they want from us is demonstrations of self-deprecation, I can't see any benefit in pandering to them, economic or otherwise.

As it stands, we're in a bit of a bind. We have the French in the west and the Russians in the east, both ideological and military allies. France is eyeing chemical imports from Unicornia, and while they suggest it's for domestic purposes, the military applications cannot be ignored. With the so-called "S.U.D.S." expanding abroad, and considering its friction with Kinichikia and Australia, a military buildup is inevitable. We might be able to keep the peace in the short term, but there's no telling when they'll decide we've outlived our "entertainment value". They're already looking into weaponizing space; there's no mistake this coming "revolution" will be old-school.
We're dangerously isolated politically, but there aren't a lot of options that won't put us into direct conflict with France, barring entry into G.A.S. that they'll almost certainly never allow. The Zulus have offered a pact independent of G.A.S., which on the one hand could ironically gain us the alliance's backing if the invocation of defence obligations is as convoluted as it always is around here; but that would risk alienating us from Kinichikia, the vanguard of P.E.A.C.E., and Denmarj, our closest friend at the moment. Similarly, officially throwing our lot in with either of them makes us the front lines of the current standoff.
Then we have the proposal from the Raiju, who we know next-to-nothing about and whose presence alone seems to be pissing off the powers in Asia. Curiously, they're courting defence with both sides of this speculative cold war, so there's no clue what sort of mess that'll turn into if the fighting breaks out. On their own, a lot of these nations would probably be safe bets, but we risk becoming entangled in the broader bloc politics.
I suggest we look at the major powers that seem legitimately dedicated to neutrality. The Justice League is the obvious choice; we should also look at closer co-operation with the South American powers, since they're our extended neighbours and so will make or break our presence there. We want to make sure we're protected, but we don't want to wind up in some nebulous alliance where we take the fall for a mistake half a world away.
