This is the thread for the peace talks between the USSR and the Russian Rebels. Players of other countries are welcome to watch the developing peace talks, but Alaska (the host) strongly discourages others (besides USSR and Rebels) from taking part (directly) in this peace talks.
btw, the GM is welcome to these talks (because he is the GM).

Indeed. Let's not turn this into a repeat of Dublin.

Prime Minister Aleka will represent the Soviet Union in the peace talks. Here is our peace proposal: Part 1:USSR offers the Rebels the formation of an Ecumenical Government to lead the Country to free elections with the help of the UN. Part 2:The People of USSR will have to vote if they want a communist or a western Democracy. Part 3:If the people vote for a CCommunist Democracy, the rebels shall surrender to the Legal USSR government. Part 4:If the people vote for a Western Democracy, the Government will make the Democrat leader Prime Minister of USSR. Part 5:The UN will be responsible for the elections.

The rebel counter-proposal, based on the original demands: - Immediate cessation of hostilities by both sides;
- Creation of an independent state in both the east and west;
- Resignation of Nikita, Leonid, Joseph et al.;
- The USSR will pledge itself to non-aggression with the new states;
- A full UN investigation into war crimes committed during the conflict;
- A UN-enforced demilitarized zone along national borders until 2225.

We reject the proposal. We reject all parts of the proposal. We still have a strong army and we will not allow a divided Russia. And if you so called Democrats have the support of the people, why are you afraid of elections, organized by the UN not the legal government?

If you are so eager for peace, why do you refuse to negotiate? And on that subject: Immediate cessation of hostilities by both sides We reject all parts of the proposal. Clearly you had no interest in resolving this dispute peacefully and would have turned on the secessionists as soon as they laid down their arms. Very well; if you cannot be arsed to abandon your stubborn delusions of power when your economy is crumbling and world opinion lies solidly against you, then we shall make your death swift so that Soviet citizens are cured of this blight as quickly as possible. I apologize for wasting Alaska's time with this imbecile.

1) We are you so afraid of free elections?
2) We wont negotiate a two state solution. You are asking too much.

We have no fear of free elections. But given that the Soviet leadership has outright refused a cease-fire, as outlined above, any further talk is irrelevant. If the government cannot respond to our just and reasonable concerns with a level head, how can we possibly expect it to abide by any settlement that is not to the detriment of everyone but the megalomaniacal Politburo?
Furthermore, with the Soviet economy on the brink of collapse and the country's trading partners continuing to dwindle, Nikita and his cronies have proven themselves incapable of governing the state, and we will not entertain talk of re-consolidation until they have been removed from power. The longer you continue to spout your prattle, the more a two+-state solution becomes the only viable option.
